According to the New Mexico district attorney, Mary Carmack-Altwies, the shooting on Alec Baldwin’s film “Rust” set might end in criminal charges because they haven’t ruled anything out just yet, as reported on CNN.

Alec Baldwin, a well-known Hollywood actor, was on the set of a movie in Santa Fe when he mistakenly fired a loaded revolver. Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer, was killed, and Joel Souza, the director, was injured. For the time being, no charges have been filed in relation to the incident.

Carmack-Altwies said that there had been a significant number of bullets on the set, and the investigators were still finding out the details. The district attorney did say that the firearm on the “Rust” set was a real gun. Since the film was supposed to be a Western, the crew went for the antique-style one.

According to the case’s official court filings, Baldwin was handed a loaded firearm by Dave Halls, an assistant director.

Alec expressed his condolences to the Hutchins family on Twitter, saying that he was in a state of utter shock because of the passing of Halyna Hutchins, a devoted mother and a talented collaborator.

Everyone who was on the “Rust” set is being interrogated, said Carmack-Altwies. The process could take a couple of weeks or months before the final indictment. She also stressed the case’s complexity, which included a number of well-known individuals.

Criminal attorneys Mark Geragos and Alan Dershowitz claim that Alec Baldwin could face criminal charges regarding the shooting, but it remains unclear if that would actually happen or not.

In an interview with Fox News, Geragos emphasized Baldwin’s role as a producer. Furthermore, decreasing filming costs may have resulted in a crew shortage, which led to the horrific disaster.

Meanwhile, for The Hill, Dershowitz revealed his thoughts on the matter, claiming that Hutchins’ death may be considered a homicide.

Readers should note that until there are any official charges on anyone involved in this, that anything the people mentioned above is nothing more than possible scenarios or speculations as to what COULD happen, not what HAS happened.

This is an ongoing story.
